Inclusivity Fitness Festival

On Sunday 25 March, UB Sport & Fitness will be hosting its first ever Inclusivity Fitness Festival – designed specifically to allow people with disabilities to get involved with fitness.

On the 25th March, Sport & Fitness will be running free classes specifically for people with disabilities by removing the perceived barriers and providing dedicated and experienced instructors to guide the attendees through the sessions. From Body Pump to Indoor Cycle, the day will be tailored to accommodate for impaired hearing, sight and mobility. See below for the range of activities available on the day, and for more details. Location: University of Birmingham Sport & Fitness

Cost: Free

Registration: Pre-registration is available here, but you can also register on the day.

Parking: Car park opposite the Sport & Fitness Reception (Bournbrook) or Sport & Fitness car park on Edgbaston Park Road. Please visit Reception on the day for more information.

Accessibility: Accessible changing rooms are available in Sport & Fitness, and guide dogs are permitted in the building. More information and campus maps can be found here.

The Timetable

10:00 -10.45 – Sh’bam (with BSL Interpreter)

  • Suitable for Deaf/Hearing impaired
  • A fun-loving, insanely addictive dance workout – no dance experience required! Encouraging instructors and fun music will make you forget you’re exercising.
  • 25 spaces available
  • Located in Studio 1


10:50-11.30 – Body Pump Taster  (with BSL Interpreter)

  • Suitable for Deaf/Hearing impaired and Blind/Visually impaired users
  • Body Pump is the original barbell workout that challenges all your major muscle groups by using squats, presses, lifts and curls, all to great music!
  • 25 spaces available
  • Located in Studio 1


11.30-12.30 – Wheelchair Workout (provided by Wheely Good Fitness)

  • Suitable for Wheelchair users or those with mobility difficulties (chairs are provided)
  • A blend of two Wheely Good Fitness exercise programmes; gentle exercise and a high energy fun cardio workout. This combination class allows you to try out two different styles of exercise that work on your range of movement, flexibility and co-ordination whilst also improving your overall fitness through aerobic exercise.

12.30-13.15 – Indoor Cycle

  • Suitable for Blind/Visually Impaired users
  • An indoor cycling class in our dedicated Cycle Studio, featuring enthusiastic instructors to support your journey of sprints and climbs on our state-of-the-art Technogym bikes.
