11 August 2020: You will be able to book classes for next week from 12pm on Friday 14 August. From then, you will be able to book classes up to seven days in advance.

10 August 2020: The gym, pool and squash courts have re-opened today. Please ensure you have booked in advance before attending. 

8 August 2020: Students who have a membership which has been rolled forward to the next academic year should have received an email with their new membership dates. If you have not received this email, please check your junk folder before contacting

3 August 2020: The booking system for the gym, pool and squash courts will open on Wednesday 5 August, for bookings from Monday 10 August. From Wednesday 5 August, you will be able to book 7 days in advance.

23 July 2020: Our gym, pool and squash courts are re-opening on Monday 10 August! 

On Thursday 9 July, the UK Government announced that indoor leisure facilities, including gyms and swimming pools, could re-open from Saturday 25 July. This was extremely welcome news, and following the University’s permission, we will plan to re-open the pool, gym and squash courts on Monday 10 August.

Classes will resume at Sport & Fitness from Monday 17 August, so in the meantime, we will continue to run a virtual class timetable on the Virtual Sport & Fitness Club Facebook group.

All other activities such as swimming lessons, badminton, climbing, outdoor sport and junior activities are awaiting a confirmed re-start date; we will share this with you as soon as we are able to.

9 July 2020: We welcome today’s Government announcement allowing gyms and swimming pools to re-open from 25 July.

The UoB Sport & Fitness team have been working for some time on re-opening plans that put the safety and wellbeing of our members and staff as of utmost importance. Once we have the green light from the University, we can start to roll out that plan, which will start with unfurloughing and training staff, thoroughly cleaning every bit of the building and its contents, and putting required safety measures in place prior to opening. We will keep you informed of progress via email and social media, and can’t wait to welcome you back.

2 July 2020: For staff members who currently have a payroll membership at the Sport & Fitness club: ensure you check your emails this week, as you will have received important information about changes to your membership. This includes details of how to apply for a refund for the unused months during lockdown, a transfer over to Direct Debit from payroll payments, and options for when you can re-start your membership when the facility reopens.

22 April 2020: Join us on Sunday 26 April for the 2.6 Challenge, a national effort to raise money for UK charities who will suffer financially due to Covid-19. As the London Marathon was due to be this Sunday, and they currently hold the record for the most money raised for a single day event (£67million), 2.6 challenges all over the country are helping to contribute to the goal of beating this target, all around the theme of ‘2.6’ or ’26’.

On Sunday, we are hosting two dedicated classes: GRIT at 10am, and Pilates at 11am, both 26 minutes each, and we invite you to join us. Simply access the class videos through our Facebook group, and participate, donate to a charity of choice if you can, and share your progress on the group!

20 April 2020: The Sport & Fitness team are back working remotely from today, however, working from home does mean we are not able to access all of the usual systems so the extent to which we can solve your enquiry may be limited whilst the club is closed. Thank you for your patience and we hope to be able to see you soon.

9 April 2020: Visit the Virtual Sport & Fitness Facebook group for workouts, classes, blogs and expert advice to keep you active over the Easter break. Please note: the University is closed between Friday 10 April and Monday 20 April, so any queries, comments or emails will be addressed when the team are back at work. We hope you are all staying safe and well. Thank you.

24 March 2020: Our new Facebook group is now live, bringing our member community together, virtually! Over the coming weeks, we will be sharing workout tips, blogs, live videos and everything in-between, many created by our Sport & Fitness team. This is also a platform for members to share their own content and we welcome contributions. We hope you find it useful. Join the club on Facebook.

23 March 2020: We are aware that many members have queries about memberships. Please know that we are working through all the emails as quickly as possible, but until we re-open and know the extent of the closure, there are limitations on what we can process. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

20 March 2020: The Sport & Fitness club has now closed until 1 June 2020 at the earliest. We would like to thank our members and users for their cooperation and understanding during the closure. Please ensure you check your emails and follow us on social media as we will be posting content to keep our Sport & Fitness community thriving (albeit virtually) during these difficult and uncertain times.

19 March 2020: Sport & Fitness will be closing at 5pm on Friday 20 March. There will only be classes until 1pm and there will be no swimming lessons. It is still unknown for how long the Sport & Fitness club and Tiverton Gym will remain closed, although the University has advised campus will be closed until 1 June at the earliest.

17 March 2020: With immediate effect, all Active Club sessions; Social Sport; Campus League; Try A Sport courses; Aqua Natal Classes; Club support classes (yoga and circuits); Junior Jiu Jitsu; Junior Sports Camp and Junior Martial Arts will be cancelled. If you had made an advance booking for any of these activities, you will be re-credited to use the voucher once the activities resume.

17 March 2020: The University have decided to close Tiverton Gym at 2pm today in order to combine staff and cleaning resources across our two gyms. We apologise for the short notice. You will be able to use the gym at Sport & Fitness (on the main University campus) until that closes, which is currently expected on Friday 27 March, although we are monitoring the situation closely and this date may also be brought forward. It is currently unknown how long the Sport & Fitness club and Tiverton Gym will remain closed for. If you have any further questions, please contact: 

16 March 2020: Due to the concerns surrounding Coronavirus (COVID-19), the University have decided that UoB Sport & Fitness and Tiverton Gym will be closed temporarily from 27 March 2020. We are monitoring the national situation closely as it is developing rapidly; we will be in contact again if this date is brought forwards. Members will be contacted directly via email.
