University of Birmingham offers membership at the Sport & Fitness club on campus (gym, swim, squash) and Tiverton Gym, on Tiverton Road in Selly Oak (gym only).
Student memberships must be purchased online, you will not be able to buy a membership from reception. All memberships are subject to availability.
To purchase a student membership, you will need to log in to Join Online using your student email address (e.g. email@example.com) and your PIN. You can request your PIN by following the ‘Forgotten your PIN’ link which will generate a new one to your student email address.
To help you choose which membership to buy, take a look around both Sport & Fitness which is located on campus, and Tiverton Gym which is located in Selly Oak (a 15 minute walk from campus), by viewing the virtual tours below. You can also click on the orange tags to show what Covid-19 safety measures have been put in place on each site.
At Sport & Fitness, you can discover the gym, 50m swimming pool, glass-back squash courts and a range of classes. Please note, Tiverton Gym is a gym-only membership option. All memberships are single site only.
Please note, Tiverton Gym memberships have sold out for this academic year, but there are a range of memberships available at Sport & Fitness (on campus).

There are a number of reasons why payment could be failing at the purchasing stage of your membership:
If you are unable to complete payment, please email firstname.lastname@example.org and include in the email: your full name, your student ID number, the name of your bank and country it is based, the membership you are trying to buy (e.g. peak gym at Sport & Fitness) and a screenshot of the error message if possible.
If you think payment may have gone through but it is not showing online, please include in your email the last 4 digits of the long card number you are trying to pay with.
No, all memberships are single site only.
No, your student card is your membership card once you have an active membership. Please note, you will need to swipe in and out of the building for Track & Trace purposes, therefore, if you do not have your membership card with you, you will not be permitted access into the building.
The majority of student memberships are 12 months, a selection of saver memberships are 9 months long. Please note the end date on your online account under ‘Memberships’.

Once student members are outside of their 14 day cooling off period, you’re unable to downgrade your membership.
Students are unable to suspend their membership except for medical circumstances (documentation is required to firstname.lastname@example.org).
