STUDENT MEMBERSHIP

Brand new memberships are launching at UoB Sport & Fitness club (on campus), and Tiverton Gym (Selly Oak) for this 2021-22 academic year.

Student memberships must be purchased online, you will not be able to buy a membership from reception. Please note, we experience a high volume of traffic on the website on these dates and you may have to exit the website and wait for a short time before trying again.

All memberships are subject to availability.

How to join online

  • CHOOSE YOUR MEMBERSHIP

    Discover our range of student memberships below, including brand new Sport & Fitness Prime, Sport & Fitness Core and Tiverton Gym Plus. Take note of the different access times available including off-peak times and time-specific memberships.

  • JOIN ONLINE

    1. Use your University email address to access student membership prices
    2. If you don’t know your PIN, click the ‘forgotten your PIN?’ link on the login page and it will be emailed to your student email address. Or watch this video on how to request a new PIN.
  • CHECK THE LOCATION OF YOUR MEMBERSHIP

    Ensure you purchase the correct membership at the correct location.

    Sport & Fitness is on the main Edgbaston campus (07 on the campus map)

    Tiverton Gym is on Tiverton Road in Selly Oak (not on campus).

  • CHOOSE YOUR START DATE

    You can select the start date of your membership for whenever suits you.

    Please note, Gym Group Training classes (included in Prime, Core and Plus memberships) will start at Sport & Fitness on Monday 13 September.

  • PAYMENT

    Please try and pay with a UK credit or debit card as some international bank cards cannot be accepted by our system. If you do not have access to a UK bank account, please contact membership@sportandfitness.bham.ac.uk.

    During busy periods, payments may take a few minutes to process, please only click the confirmation button once or you will be charged multiple times.

  • INDUCTION

    If you have purchased a membership which includes the gym for either Sport & Fitness or Tiverton Gym, please ensure you have watched the gym induction video and visit the Stay Safe webpage before using the facility for the first time. This is a requirement of the Terms & Conditions of Membership.

This membership gives you the greatest amount of flexibility, choice and value for money with access to all these facilities at peak or off-peak times.

Core membership is available for a range of access times to suit your schedule and budget including: Peak; Off-Peak; 5-Day Peak; 6am – 3.30pm; 9am – 2pm; Weekends. Discover the full range below.

FAQs & Support

Can I purchase my membership at reception instead?

No, all students must purchase their membership online, unless instructed otherwise by the Membership team.

My payment keeps failing whilst trying to buy a membership

There are a number of reasons why payment could be failing at the purchasing stage of your membership:

  • If you are using an international payment card – if at all possible, please use a UK payment card. If this is not possible, please email membership@sportandfitness.bham.ac.uk
  • If you have any special characters in your name such as an apostrophe this could cause an error in the system

If you are unable to complete payment, please email membership@sportandfitness.bham.ac.uk and include in the email: your full name, your student ID number, the name of your bank and country it is based, the membership you are trying to buy (e.g. Sport & Fitness Prime Peak) and a screenshot of the error message if possible.

If you think payment may have gone through but it is not showing online, please include in your email the last 4 digits of the long card number you are trying to pay with.

I have paid for my membership but it is not showing on my account.

Please contact our membership team at membership@sportandfitness.bham.ac.uk with the following information:

  • Membership category you have purchased
  • Value of transaction
  • Date & time of transaction
  • Last 4 digits of debit/credit card
  • Name on debit / credit card

Multiple membership payments have been processed, what should I do?

Please contact our membership team at membership@sportandfitness.bham.ac.uk with the following information for each transaction:

  • Membership category you purchased
  • Value of transaction
  • Date & time of transaction
  • Last 4 digits of debit/credit card
  • Name on debit / credit card

I don't know my PIN

Will my membership allow me to use the gym at Tiverton Gym and Sport & Fitness?

No, all memberships are single site only.

Can I change which membership I have once I have bought it?

Depending on availability, you can upgrade your membership at any time by emailing membership@sportandfitness.bham.ac.uk. You are not able to downgrade your membership or receive a refund if you are outside of the 14-day cooling off period.

Can I transfer my membership to someone else?

No, memberships cannot be transferred under any circumstances and student ID / membership cards cannot be used by anyone other than the person who owns the ID card.

The system says my student account has expired but I am still studying

We will need you to provide proof of studies in order for us to resolve this. This can be done by following the steps below:

Current students who are normally registered can access the following letters on the Verify Secure Documents website:

Bank letters

Council tax letters

General proof of registration letters

 

In order to access your letters on Verify Secure Documents, please follow these steps:

1) Go to https://verify.bham.ac.uk

2) Log in using your normal student username and password

3) Click View Secure Documents

4) Click Secure Letters

 

This will then show you the secure letters available for you. To view your letters, click on the menu item next to each letter and then View E-Letter.

Once obtained, please send this to membership@sportandfitness.bham.ac.uk.

I've purchased my membership, how do I access the facilities?

Your membership will start on the date you chose when purchasing the membership. To access the facilities from this date, you’ll need your student ID card to swipe in and out of the facilities. Entry will be refused if you don’t have your card.
