LIFESTYLE SUPPORT
Lifestyle support takes a person-first approach to facilitating athletes in developing holistically around their sporting goals. By encouraging activity and development which nurtures growth as people; student-athletes are more equipped to reach their potential within their sport, academic studies and in life after sport and university.
Within the university setting, we support student-athletes to manage a successful dual-career by balancing the demands of their academic course with the commitment required to be an elite athlete, facilitate any personal lifestyle or development needs, and support general wellbeing.
HOW WE WORK WITH ATHLETES & COACHES
Through the cultivation of an individualised coaching and mentoring relationship, the Lifestyle team works with athletes to explore individual challenges, barriers or concerns within their sporting, academic or wider life and empowers them to identify and action potential progressions and solutions, including signposting to other relevant team members where appropriate.
By providing group workshops and targeted resources to explore wider lifestyle topics, such as time management, self-awareness, and preparing for life after graduation; we can identify typical development needs and proactively prepare for potential challenges that may arise.
Additionally, Lifestyle support operates as part of the wider Performance Centre multi-disciplinary team and links with student-athletes support network including coaches and NGB’s in order to identify further areas for potential development.
