SPORT SCHOLARSHIPS

COMMONWEALTH GAMES ELITE SCHOLARSHIP

July 2022 sees the city of Birmingham host the 22nd iteration of the Commonwealth Games, the first time West Midlands has played host to the event in its 90-year history. The Commonwealth Games bring nations together in a colourful celebration of sport and human performance, and the University of Birmingham will be proudly hosting both the hockey and squash competitions, as well as housing the majority of the athletes in the Vale Village on campus.

The Commonwealth Games Elite Scholarship, introduced in 2021 to celebrate the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, is open to support the next generation of talented dual-career athletes ideally from Commonwealth countries, who will be studying a post-graduate course at the University of Birmingham in 2022-23. We are looking to support and develop international athletes with aspirations of competing at future major games such as Paris 2024 and Victoria 2026.

If this sounds like you, we want to hear from you! We embrace applications from a wide range of sports and countries, and we look forward to welcoming you to our fantastic community of national and international athletes, as well as our world-class facilities.

Applications will be accepted up until 5pm on Friday 17 June. Successful applications will be invited for a virtual interview following the panel’s application review.
