STAY SAFE AT SPORT & FITNESS

The safety of our members and staff is our priority, so we’ve made some changes to our facilities and procedures to ensure you can continue safely on your fitness journey with confidence.

Please ensure you read the guidelines below carefully for information on how to stay safe when using Sport & Fitness.

Stay safe information for Tiverton Gym is also available on the website.

What we are doing to keep you safe

Cleaning and disinfecting. We’ll be cleaning and sanitising all areas and equipment in-between each bookable session, in addition to a daily deep clean.

Social distancing. We are adopting a two metre social distancing rule to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our members and staff.

Protecting you and our staff. Cleaning equipment and hand sanitiser is readily available throughout the club.

One way system. Please follow the walking routes around the Sport & Fitness club, even if it takes a little longer to reach your destination.

Reduced facilities. Not all of our facilities are available yet. There are also limited toilets available and no changing rooms. Please see the area-specific advice below for changing instructions.

Covid-19 General Rules

Covid-19 safety guidelines for using Sport & Fitness

How you can keep yourself and others safe

Stay home if you’re unwell. Please don’t come to the club if you have any of the COVID-19 symptoms.

Pre-book your session. Only those who have booked a gym, swim or squash session will be able to enter the building. You can book online via the website or via the UB Sport Fitness app (available on Apple and Android). You will not be able to book at reception. Please note, you will not be permitted access into the club if you are more than five minutes late, this is so we can manage capacities and social distancing in the corridors and stairwells.

Use the NHS Covid-19 app to scan the Sport & Fitness QR code on arrival. QR codes are located on signage outside of Sport & Fitness, please scan before you enter the building.

Arrive on time and ready to work out. Please come in your workout clothes, or wear your swimwear underneath your clothes if you’re visiting the pool, as the changing rooms will not be available. Please only bring a small drawstring bag for your belongings as lockers will not be in use.

Face coverings are mandatory where you cannot maintain a two metre distance from others. This includes the outside queuing area, reception, corridors and stairwells. You will be refused entry into Sport & Fitness if you are not wearing a face covering or have an exemption. Please note, though you do not need to wear a face covering when exercising, you are welcome to do so if you prefer.

Clean equipment after use. Please help protect yourself and fellow members by cleaning the gym equipment before and after use, with the cleaning products provided. Focus on areas you have touched such as handles and screens. Return all gym equipment and cleaning products to where they belong so other members do not have to search around the gym.

Pre-arrival checklist

Before leaving home for your class, gym session, swim or squash booking, check that you have:

– Your membership ID card – to swipe in and out the building. You will NOT be able to enter without this.
– A face covering – to wear in communal areas to and from classes (unless exempt)
– A filled drinks bottle – currently no water points are available. For cardio-based classes including Cycle, we recommend bringing two.
– A sweat towel
– An exercise mat/ yoga mat/ towel for applicable classes (please note, in Yoga classes there are no props, blocks or straps being loaned, so you may also wish to bring your own)

Exercise mats

Due to the COVID-19 situation, we are no longer loaning exercise/yoga mats in the gym or studios.

We would like to remind all members to bring a mat or towel for personal use, especially for Yoga, and for your comfort in any classes where your back or knees may be in contact with the floor e.g. Body Pump, Circuits, Abs, CXWorx, Body Attack, LBT, Body Combat.
