How you can keep yourself and others safe

Stay home if you’re unwell. Please don’t come to the club if you have any of the COVID-19 symptoms.

Take regular lateral flow tests. One in three people who have Covid-19 don’t show any symptoms. Taking regular lateral flow tests, which are available for free home delivery from will enable you to feel confident that you do not have the virus, and you are helping to keep fellow Sport & Fitness members safe.

Changing rooms are open. Wherever possible, please arrive ready to work out and only use the changing rooms if necessary to limit the amount of time you are in the club.

We are actively encouraging people to use face coverings when moving around inside of the building, but this is no longer mandatory.

Clean equipment after use. Please help protect yourself and fellow members by cleaning the gym and class equipment before and after use, with the cleaning products provided. Focus on areas you have touched such as handles and screens. Return all equipment and cleaning products to where they belong so other members do not have to search around for them.

Maintain social distancing. Even if you are attending with your friend, or see someone you know during your workout, you should keep a safe distance from them and all other members and staff when in the building.

You will not be granted access to Sport & Fitness without a membership card, this is to ensure you can swipe into and out of the club.

There is a one-way system to enter and exit the gym. Enter via the first stair core (closest to reception), and exit via the barriers near the squash courts. You will need to swipe both in and out of the gym.

Please collect a cleaning cloth from the blue container when you enter the gym. Use this with the cleaning sprays provided to wipe equipment before and after use. Discard your cleaning cloth in the red container as you exit the gym.

Do not bring bags into the gym, please use the lockers provided on the ground floor.

We will continue to closely monitor capacities in each area, therefore, if an area is too busy, you will see a red no entry sign at the entrance to the Sport & Fitness club. There will be a sign for the pool and a sign for the gym. If the red sign is showing, please wait outside the club until a member of staff changes the sign to green and welcomes you inside.

Changing rooms, showers and lockers are available, however, there are also changing spaces available on the poolside if you would prefer.

All showers have reopened with the exception of the drench showers as you enter the poolside.

Please remove your shoes before you enter the poolside area, and walk barefoot or in clean indoor flip flops.

Members are encouraged to bring their own equipment/aids, ensuring they are clean and identifiable and for their individual use only.

Please only arrive 5-minutes before a programmed activity such as a class, so that you can enter the studio and do not need to wait in the corridor for the previous class to exit.

Classes must be booked in advance, either as part of your membership or using Pay & Go class vouchers.

You do not need to print a class receipt or ticket.

Cycle classes (including RPM and Sprint) have moved back to the Cycle Studio on the ground floor. Lower capacity cycle classes are available if you would prefer.

You can bring a maximum of two partners to play squash with. Everyone attending the booking must book the session (either as the lead booking or a guest) online, in advance in order to be able to swipe into the club at the specified time.

If your guest(s) are also squash members of Sport & Fitness, this will not count as their one permitted booking for that day, as they are the guest/partner and not the lead bookee.

Non-squash members will be required to pay a guest fee when booking the session.

Junior members are permitted to play squash.

There is no squash equipment available to hire.

Up to five guests, plus the lead bookee can attend one badminton court booking. All guests must book a badminton guest space online, in advance, via the website or the UB Sport & Fitness app.
