The safety of our student, staff and members is our priority, so we’ve made some changes to our facilities and procedures to ensure you can continue safely on your fitness journey with confidence.
Everyone will have a part to play in keeping one another safe, so please familiarise yourself with the changes and follow the advice of our staff.
To make sure we can keep ourselves and our teammates safe, there is a new process that has been introduced by the University, that anyone attending a training session must follow to be able to train with their club or team.
Please ensure your read the following information before your first session, and if you have any questions, contact email@example.com.
Follow the three simple steps below before you attend each training session. For example, if you train every Monday, this process must be followed at some point in the week prior to your session.
There are three ways to test for Coronavirus.
This test is pre-bookable and located in the Aston Webb building. Simply pick a time slot on the University website and go to the entrance of the Bramall music building to follow the steps to get a test. It takes approximately 10 minutes and the results are emailed or messaged to you in as quick as an hour. This site is open Monday – Thursday.
There is a walk-in testing centre in the Duck & Scholar. The site is open on Tuesdays and Fridays, between 11am – 6.45pm (closed 2 – 2.45pm), and you do not need to pre-book. You can watch the Guild of Students’ video about the site on their Facebook page.
You should test yourself twice a week, and to train you will need to prove that you have been tested in the last week. For example, if you have a session on a Monday and Tuesday evening after testing Monday morning, you would show the same text at both sessions.
By testing regularly, it will increase the chance of you having a safer training session knowing that everyone around you has tested negative in the last week. During sporting activity, even with NGB guidance, there are aspects of not social distancing so it is important to stop the transmission of the virus as a positive case would potentially shut down future training sessions.
Yes. The vaccine does not 100% prevent you from passing on the virus so you will still be required to test regularly.
Yes – all UBSport training sessions will be putting this in place to ensure safe activity.
After 3rd May, you will be unable to train without proof of a negative LTF.
Stay home if you’re unwell. Please don’t come on to campus if you have any of the COVID-19 symptoms.
Pre-book your session. Only those who have booked onto their club session will be able to take part. You can book online via the website or the UB Sport Fitness app (available on Apple and Android) by scrolling down to Student Sport Bookings. Once your have a valid membership or subscription the sessions will be bookable. You will not be able to book when you arrive.
Use the NHS Covid-19 app to scan the QR code on arrival. QR codes are located on signage outside of all sport facilities, please scan before you enter the facility.
Arrive ready to work out. Please come in your workout clothes, or wear your swimwear underneath your clothes if you’re visiting the pool, as the changing rooms will not be available. Please only bring a small drawstring bag for your belongings as lockers will not be in use.
Face coverings are mandatory at all times except when you are exercising. This includes when making your way to and from a session, and in corridors and stairwells. We advise you also wear it when moving between stations in the gym. You will be refused entry into Sport & Fitness if you are not wearing a face covering or have an exemption.
Clean equipment after use. Please help protect yourself and fellow members by designating people to clean equipment before and after use.
Ensure you watch the relevant facility induction video before your first training session. If you have any further questions, please contact your club’s committee.
Cleaning and disinfecting. We have increased the amount of cleaning throughout the day in the Sport & Fitness club, in addition to a daily deep clean.
Social distancing. We are adopting a two-metre social distancing rule to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our members and staff. Whilst playing sport, you must follow the appropriate guidance for that sport.
Protecting you and our staff. Cleaning equipment and hand sanitiser is readily available throughout the facilities.
One way system. Please follow the one-way walking routes around the facilities, even if it takes a little longer to reach your destination.
