Here at University of Birmingham we have 4 teams competing in different BUCS leagues with all 4 of the teams playing in the highest divisions available to them. Each team has the possibility to travel all over the country to represent the university at some of the top courses in England.
We have around 35-40 active members each year. Handicaps ranging from +2 for our performance squad members to 20 for our more social golfers.
The Performance Programme at the University of Birmingham is proud to be one of seventeen R&A funded institutions, allowing our Golfers to experience and engage with elite level golf whilst studying for a degree. Around 8 players are selected for the performance squad annually, with access to strength and conditioning sessions and physiotherapy services, in addition to nutrition and sports psychology support.
As team mates we aren’t simply people who play together in competition, we are very good friends away from the sport with many social events that are held throughout the year encouraging everybody to get involved.
The golf club is grateful for the support it receives from the R&A.

Successes and Achievements
The 2019/20 season saw Uni of Birmingham Scholar Aled Greville capture the R&A Scholars Foundation Tournament title in St. Andrews. Aled as a result was selected to represent the International side at the Arnold Palmer Cup, an extremely prestigious event.
The 2019/2020 BUCS league was a successful one for the 1st team, as they clinched the title, beating UCLAN Mixed 1, to win the Northern Premier League.
Our alumni include international golfers who have represented their country and golfers who have taken part in professional major championships.
We are a super social and welcoming club. The majority of our squad are made up of students studying the Applied Golf Management degree (School of Sport and Exercise Science), where they work in conjunction with the PGA Teaching School at The Belfry to become professional golfers. However, there are also non AGMS students who play in the teams too. We are not all boys either, last year we had 6 girls competing in our BUCS squad so there is something for everyone!
