University of Birmingham Netball Club is a highly competitive club that supports over 100 players, from a recreational level through to elite competition. Our first team compete in Premier North, and 4 more successful squads competing in the BUCS leagues (Midlands 1A, 2A, 2B, 7A). Our club is also partnered with Wasps Netball Superleague Academy.

With access to state-of-the-art facilities and expert staff, our club has access to further support, including strength and conditioning, and sports physiology and nutrition. We also have a development squad, allowing talented individuals to still be trained to a high standard and feed into the teams throughout the season.

We are a very close-knit club and support one another in and out of netball life, striving to provide a friendly and social environment for all of our members. This club offers the opportunity to make amazing friends for life. Members come together weekly to have fun away from the court and celebrate game days. The Club is also highly involved in fundraising and charity events where lots of fun can be had taking part in bingo nights, pub quizzes and more!

How to get involved

To discover more and get involved, come and meet current club members at Sport & Fitness Fair on Tuesday 21 September in the Sport & Fitness Arena from 10am-5pm. This is the best place to find about trials and taster sessions. You will be asked to register your interest using the ‘Register Interest’ form above, and then you will receive confirmation of the dates of trials and taster sessions in a follow-up email. If you would prefer, you can also fill in the form before Sport & Fitness Fair, but you will not receive any further information until the evening of Tuesday 21 September.

If you have any questions for the club before Sport & Fitness Fair, please contact the club directly via the red contact us button or their social media pages.

Following trials and taster sessions, if you would like to join the club you must purchase a membership online. To purchase a membership, please click the yellow join us button.

Please note, on top of the club membership fee there is a £16 fee that covers personal accident insurance when training or competing for the University, access to free cross-training sessions such as circuits and yoga, as well as a contribution to the costs of affiliation to various national governing bodies. This fee is only payable once so if you did decide to join a second club then you would not need to pay a second fee.

Wasps academy partnership

Wasps U21 Hub

The University of Birmingham are proud to be partnered with Wasps Superleague Academy, offering our students the local link with the U21 programme alongside the elite level standard of coaching. As well as four prime-time UoB club training sessions a week, Wasps U21s have their sessions on campus, which our 1st team also attend, allowing our players to benefit from the high level of coaching and play.

The pathway from the University to Wasps is further strengthened by regular Age Group days that engage with the local community, and the association with the 2019 Vitality Superleague runners-up allows a link with key coaches, training programmes and observation by people such as Tamsin Greenway to develop players and offer a smoother transition into elite-level netball.

Find out more about upcoming games on the Wasps Netball website.

Meet the coaches

HEAD COACHWesley Blair
Wesley Blair

“The opportunity this year to become head coach and work with some highly motivated performance athletes was one not to be missed. It is hoped that I can bring something different to the coaching team and my experience within a performance environment at Wasps Netball. I wish to enable the group to continue to grow and have success.

I have worked with and alongside some great coaches and this experience in managing expectations and personalities will help me to continue and develop the good work already taking place here at the UOB”.

Social netball

If you would prefer to play recreational netball, we also offer weekly social netball sessions as well as Campus League where you can enter a team made up of friends, course mates or hall friends.
