Club members 2016/17
Birmingham University Windsurf Club is a relaxed group of sociable people who enjoy experiencing all University has to offer.
Our members range from freshers to PhD students with varied windsurfing abilities – so whether you’re already an experienced windsurfer or an absolute beginner, we have everything you need to get stuck into the sport! Our team of qualified instructor and our diverse range of kit allows everyone to get out on the water, with up to 2 sessions a week included in your membership fee.
But that’s only half the story – arguably the best part of our club is our super-sociable and welcoming members. We run weekly sober and non-sober socials a month such as: sports night at the student union, pub-trips, trampolining, rock-climbing, and movie-nights.
We also run weekend trips to different Universities throughout the year to meet up with other windsurfing clubs for competitions and amazing nights out in the host’s cities! Not only are you able to take part in races and competitions and get expert tuition, but you’ll spend two days exploring cities like Nottingham, Bristol, Liverpool and Swansea with a huge group of your mates.
If that wasn’t enough, every summer we join with the other Universities across the UK and head off to an exotic country for even more windsurfing. Trips to resorts in Vassiliki, Croatia, Fuerteventura & more make for an incredible week of windsurfing, SUP boarding, mountain-biking and making memories you’ll never forget.
How to get involved
Taster session and/or trial information will be available soon. The membership fee is £75 which gets reduced in Term 2.
Please note that on top of the club fee there is a £16 fee that covers personal accident insurance when training or competing for the University, access to free cross-training sessions such as circuits and yoga, as well as a contribution to the costs of affiliation to various national governing bodies. This fee is only payable once so if you did decide to join a second club then you would not need to pay a second fee.
