BUCS Super Series: ENGAGE

This week saw the third BUCS Super Series event as Rugby took over the Bournbrook pitches for a triple-header of games!

The event kicked off with an inter-club game as the M3 took on M4. The 3rds were looking for revenge after they were narrowly pipped by the 4ths earlier in the season. They came back in triumphant style running out 46-8 winners to please the crowds with a high scoring display!

Next up it was the W1 v Leeds Beckett W1, it was the first time that a women’s match had been included in ENGAGE and they grabbed their opposition with both hands! In a ruthless display Birmingham imposed their free running style and dominated Beckett to win 42-7. It was a great day for the women as their 2nd team also won a tough game against Lincoln to remain unbeaten this season!

ENGAGE wasn’t just about the rugby however, there were also performances to get the crowd going pre-match and at half time. BUDS performed before the Mens 1st team game to help rise the energy levels on a cold January evening, while BatSoc gave a thrilling performance at half time much to the crowd’s delight!

The final game of the day was a top of the table clash as 3rd place M1 hosted 2nd place Newcastle M1s. It was a close affair with the lead changing hands more than a game of pass-the-parcel but a late Will Heinz try in the corner saw Birmingham grab a narrow 20-19 victory.

It was day and yet another victorious BUCS Super Series event! However just because ENGAGE is over for another year doesn’t mean the all the big events are. There are still two more Super Series events coming to you at the end of February, with INTERCEPT (netball) on Wednesday 26 and LOCKDOWN (basketball) on Saturday 29. Make sure you save the dates and come support Brum!
