The University of Birmingham Sport supports around 30 individual athletes across a range of tailored sport scholarships programmes. Our dedicated Scholarships Management team work holistically with specialist practitioners to develop athletes. The team works collectively with the Performance centre to support and promote dual-career athletes.
They have formed strong links with academic departments, coaches and governing bodies to ensure that athletes are supported from all angles. Through promoting and maintaining a high performance environment, the team facilitates the progress of the scholars into senior-international and elite level sport.
The University of Birmingham has long been one of the premier academic institutes in the UK; as one of the top universities for sports it is an ideal place to combine sport with a well respected programme of study.

|Before coming to the University of Birmingham my biggest achievements were with the GB Senior Team, winning silver medals at the European and Commonwealth Games. I chose Birmingham for the standard of the hockey coaching and team. Whilst studying, the sport scholarship allows me to continue training at a high standard and improve my future potential. The specialist support provided by the Performance Team – strength and conditioning, physiology, nutrition, lifestyle and physiotherapy support can only help my long term aims.|
