Birmingham’s Olympians & Paralympians in action
Birmingham alumni and Paris 2024 medallists were in action recently in cycling and netball events following their medal successes.
Hall of Famer Lora Fachie OBE (and pilot Corrine Hall) won Bronze in the Women’s B tandem cycling time-trial. Lora claimed a bronze medal in Paris as she aimed to keep hold of her Pursuit Champion title.
Paris silver medallist Anna Henderson finished seventh in the Elite Women’s Time Trial at the. Anna will be leading GB’s Women’s Road Race team on Saturday 28 September, live on BBC Two.
Anna claimed Birmingham’s first medal of the Olympics with silver in Women’s Individual Time Trial event, taking the silver in her 41-minute-9.83-seconds race.
The Great Britain Cycling Team came away with gold, silver and bronze para-cycling medals on the first day of the 2024 UCI Road and Para-cycling Road World Championships in Zurich, Switzerland.
Alumna Fran Williams captained the Vitality Roses to a 61-59 win over Australia in the second match of the latest test series, the first time England have beaten Australia since 2018. The decider is taking place on Wednesday 25 September at 10.00am, being shown live on Sky Sports Mix.
