The University of Birmingham’s leading teams and athletes are supported by the Performance Sport programme, which offers expert coaching, training and development from a multi-disciplinary team of performance support practitioners. These combine to maximise athletic performance and achievement in national leagues, as well as BUCS competitions and championships.
STATE-OF-THE-ART FACILITIES AND DEDICATED PRACTITIONERS
Our coaches deliver all technical training on site from our the state-of-the-art facilities. Students are supported by our team of dedicated practitioners at the multi-million-pound Sport and Fitness centre, opened in 2017. The Performance Centre, located on the second floor, is a UK-leading centre for higher education sports science.
LONG TERM DEVELOPMENT BALANCING STUDY AND TRAINING
Our highly qualified team includes strength and conditioning coaches, physiologists, nutritionists, psychologists and performance lifestyle advisors. Injury and rehabilitation is managed through our on-site physiotherapy practice – Physiokinetic, who are based within the department, allowing for well-structured support for both athlete and coach, ensuring return to play is managed most effectively.
Athletes competing for one of our performance clubs will receive well rounded support, aimed not only at maximising performance on the field of play, but supporting them throughout their university career. .
