SPORT PSYCHOLOGY

Psychological factors have been shown to play a major part in sport performance, well-being and consistency, and here at the Performance Centre, we aim to maintain balance and prepare athletes, squads and coaches to perform their best continuously. Utilising a variety of theoretical approaches such as the Psychological Characteristics of Developing Excellence (PCDEs) as well as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Rational Emotive Behavioural Therapy (REBT), research and expertise is always at the centre of what we apply.

Our team of industry leading Sport Psychologists help individual athletes and sports teams to maximise their performance through tailored support packages developing psychological skills, a high achieving mind-set and creating a high performing environment.

Quotation marks icon The psychology team here are very approachable, and they are always happy to talk about anything from creating plans to deal with competition day stress to pressures you may be feeling due to academic workload. I love having someone to talk to who understands the high levels of pressure and stress that elite athletes feel, it has really helped me to feel supported whilst juggling my sport and academics!
