Student Club

The University of Birmingham Men’s Cricket Club is an inclusive and diverse club with a friendly, sociable environment of 80 members.

We boast three competitive BUCS teams in the summer as well as a brand new development squad who will play a wide variety of games during summer. We also enter a BUCS team into the winter indoor cricket competition every year, and also have a more social Sunday indoor team.

The social side of the cricket club is very important to all members with fixtures being so late into the academic year.

We hold socials every Wednesday after training, in addition to many large events and a cricket week where everyone has the opportunity to play pre-season fixtures.

As well as this, UBCC enters a 6-a-side football team to play every week in the Campus League on a Friday lunchtime which is a great way to end the week.

Inclusion, Accessibility & Disability Practices

The Men’s Cricket Club fosters a supportive environment by hosting weekly welfare mornings where members can confidentially discuss personal concerns. Additionally, group walks during warmer months promote team bonding and provide a relaxed setting for social interaction. Annual talks from “Opening Up Cricket,” a charity focused on mental health awareness, encourage open conversations about mental well-being in the sport.

The club ensures accessibility by training at Edgbaston Indoor Centre, where prayer rooms are available for those who require them. Furthermore, all training venues are easily accessible, ensuring inclusivity for all members. These efforts contribute to a welcoming and supportive cricket community.
