Student Club

Interested in joining the most diverse, friendly and active club on campus? Look no further than the University of Birmingham Men’s Basketball Club. Whether you’re completely new to basketball or already a certified baller, you’re guaranteed to find what you’re after. With a variety of competitive teams and casual sessions, along with a buzzing social scene, we offer the perfect blend of sport and community.

Interested in playing recreationally? Come along to our weekly social sessions run by UBSport. Or enter a team with your mates or society into our Campus League! Come along and enjoy the game whilst meeting great, like-minded people.

Looking for something more serious? We’d be thrilled to see you at our try-outs in September to test your skills and for a chance to be selected for one of our four teams. Our first and second teams are already cemented into the highly competitive BUCS league system, whilst our up-and-coming third team will be playing regular games against rival universities to be eligible for next year’s qualification. Or hone your skills in our Development squad, ready for next year’s try-outs or the chance to be scouted mid-season!

Our Men’s and Women’s Basketball clubs regularly join forces for events and society socials, notably for our annual varsity game: ‘Rebellion’. Taking place at Munrow Arena in Sports and Fitness, we take on our greatest university rivals for two massive showcase games. Drawing in a crowd of over 400 spectators, with half-time performances, competitions and much more, this is one event you do not want to miss.

On top of all the competition and fun you’ll have with the team, you’ll have the opportunity to enjoy a wide variety of social events organised by the club. We run regular tournaments too, highlighting the success of our 3×3 tournaments last year, and have even had the opportunity to play abroad, travelling to Lyon and Barcelona in recent years.

This is the perfect opportunity to play the sport you love (or find your new favourite sport!), whilst having a great time and making lifelong friends and unforgettable memories.
